Alma Cooper Miss USA 2024: Career, Age, Family & More

Another edition of Miss USA has come to an end! On Sunday night, August 4, California dressed up to host the 73rd edition of the acclaimed American beauty pageant, held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

The ceremony began with a round of elimination based on preliminary tryouts, which narrowed the field of 51 to 20 contestants. The field was cut in half again after the swimsuit tryout, prior to the evening gown show, where the field was narrowed to five finalists: Macy Hudson (Miss Ohio), Christell Foote (Miss Tennessee), Danika Christopherson (Miss Oklahoma), Connor Perry (Miss Kentucky), and Alma Cooper (Miss Michigan), the winner of the pageant.

Cooper was crowned by her predecessor, Savannah Gankiewicz, as the new Miss USA and the United States’ representative at the upcoming Miss Universe 2024 pageant, which will take place in Mexico at the end of the year.

Who is Alma Cooper, the winner of Miss USA 2024? Career, age, family

Alma Cooper is a 22-year-old from Michigan. The beauty queen graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy. She subsequently began a Master’s degree in Statistics (Data Science) at Stanford University, where she currently serves as a Knight Hennessy Fellow. She has also served as a second lieutenant and military intelligence officer in the United States Army.

As for her family, Miss USA 2024 was proud of her origins, highlighting that she is the daughter of an immigrant working woman and embracing her roots as an Afro-Latina woman.

Alice Cooper is the third woman to wear the Miss USA crown so far in 2024. Savannah Gankiewicz (Miss Hawaii) became the second after Noelia Voigt (Miss Utah) resigned in May of this year. Voigt was crowned the winner in 2023; however, the beauty queen resigned from her position due to mental health issues.
