Who is David Lynch? David Lynch Illness: Director’s Battle with Emphysema

Filmmaker David Lynch, who has directed feature films such as ‘Mulholland Drive’ and the ‘Twin Peaks’ series, announced that he suffers from an illness that prevents him from leaving home and, therefore, from directing films in person.

According to information published by British media on Monday, in an interview with the magazine ‘Sight & Sound’, Lynch, 78, reported that he suffers from pulmonary emphysema, a chronic disorder that causes obstruction of the lungs and difficulty breathing.

“I have emphysema from smoking for so long, so I’m forced to stay at home, whether I like it or not,” he said, because of the risk of contracting a respiratory illness, “even a cold.”

For this reason, the film director indicated that he considers it unlikely that he will be able to direct again and that he would have to do it remotely, something that he would not like very much, according to his words.
